About Us

What it is

The Lead South Australia is a unique news service telling the story of South Australia to a global and national audience to encourage investment, business, tourism and knowledge in and about the State.  Stories are determined by their journalistic merit and The Lead South Australia follows a strict Editorial Charter.

Who’s behind the project

The Lead South Australia is lead by editor Jim Plouffe, an experienced media executive with global contacts. The Lead South Australia has a staff of journalists and employs expert freelancers to cover the economic priorities of South Australia. The concept was developed by South Australian publisher Solstice Media.

How it works

The Lead South Australia concentrates on telling stories about the economic priorities of South Australia, which include education, health research and ageing, tourism, food and wine, and mining, resources and energy.

These stories are offered as Creative Commons to all media, institutions and organisations interested in the specific industries. They are free of charge and can be used in any form. Typical story packages include but are not limited to words, images, video and links.

All stories are linked back to the primary sources of the story and offer a Source List to aid journalists, editors and producers to fact check the stories or contact the sources for more information or different angles and news hooks.

Stories and news leads appearing on the website are open to anyone who wants to publish them or use them as a source. Media wanting exclusive use of stories need to become members of The Lead. Becoming a member is free and easy to do
